Product Information

Scanner

A scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in hand-held, feed-in, and flatbed types and for scanning black-and-white only, or color. Very high resolution scanners are used for scanning for high-resolution printing, but lower resolution scanners are adequate for capturing images for computer display. Scanners usually come with software, such as Adobe's Photoshop product, that lets you resize and otherwise modify a captured image. Scanners usually attach to your personal computer with a Small Computer System Interface ( SCSI ). An application such as PhotoShop uses the TWAIN program to read in the image. Some major manufacturers of scanners include: Epson, Hewlett-Packard, Microtek, and Relisys.

Scanner Specifications:

  Scanner Capability :-

A scanner that meets your specific needs can be challenging. Most scanners on the market today can handle everyday office tasks, but they come in a wide variety of types and sizes that are fine-tuned for different purposes. Document scanners, photo scanners, business card scanners, film scanners

  Scanning Resolution :-

Then there's scan size. Picking a scanner that can handle the size of the originals you need to scan seems like an obvious point, but it's easy to overlook. For example, most flatbeds have a letter-size platen, which will be a problem if you occasionally need to scan legal-size pages. Most flatbeds with ADFs will scan legal-size pages via the ADF, but not all do, so be sure to check. You can also find scanners with larger flatbeds, but they will, of course, take up more desk space.

  File formats :-

Single page and multi page TIFF, JPEG, PDF, searchable PDF/Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

  Scanning speed :-

The speed of scanning depends on the computer that you are using. For faster scanning speed, users should always try to use a faster PC with more memory / RAM and work with as little data as possible. Choosing a scanner with a fast preview speed will also help.

  Original size :-

The Different Size Originals mode enables you to place different size originals into the feeder and scan them at the same time. The combinations of the paper sizes available for the Different Size Originals mode are as follows:
    Combinations with the same width*: A4 and A3, A4R and A5, B4 and B5
